This is a granulated type of dashi made with shiitake mushrooms as the base, combined with various seasonings and bonito flakes. One stick can make dashi for approximately four cups of miso soup. While it does not have a strong dashi flavor, the umami of the shiitake enhances the deliciousness of soups, stews, rice bowls, and chawanmushi （steamed egg custard）.
