Founded in 1948, Shinkinedo is a Japanese confectionery manufacturer that produces both traditional Japanese sweets and Western-style pastries. The company operates its main retail store and its own production facility in Nakatsugawa City, Gifu Prefecture. Today, while running a traditional Japanese sweets shop specializing in chestnut-based confections in the historic merchant district along the Nakasendo (Nakatsugawa-juku), the company manufactures its products at a separate headquarters factory building and distributes them to mass retailers and through e-commerce channels nationwide. After completing formal training in traditional Japanese confectionery in Tokyo, the current third-generation president further studied Western pastry in New York City and Paris. Inspired by the delicate craftsmanship of Japanese sweets and the elegance of Western confectionery, he established the company’s guiding philosophy: “bringing happiness to people through sweets,” regardless of style or tradition. In line with this philosophy, Shinkinedo is also actively developing halal-compatible products so that people from diverse cultural and lifestyle backgrounds can enjoy its confectionery equally.
