“To balance solving social issues with profit through ‘food and agriculture.'” Our company, A&R Limited, operates Fukano Farm in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. This was the first Japanese farm dedicated to the well-being of retired JRA racehorses, respecting animal welfare. The beautiful farm, which had been the center of industry and community interaction in the village, had to close after a long history due to the impacts of the nuclear disaster. Our current “sheep business” is a revival project on the former farm site, in collaboration with local livestock farmer Umiya Co., Ltd., with whom we have had a long-standing relationship since my grandfather’s time. In response to the support we received from across the country for the disaster-affected area, we aim to address the significant social issues related to ‘food and agriculture’ and create a symbiotic society where as many smiles as possible and rich nature can coexist in harmony.
