Aurantiochytrium powder Okinawa DHA algae
It is a type of microalgae similar to Euglena and Chlorella and is a food ingredient high in DHA. It contains two umami components, “glutamic acid” found in kombu and “guanylin acid” found in dried shiitake mushrooms, which can also be used as a substitute for seafood stock. It serves as a new source of DHA without using marine resources and has potential as a seafood alternative. It does not use animal ingredients, making it safe for vegetarians who cannot directly intake DHA. There are also no concerns about mercury since it does not involve seafood.
